Most Important EDM Moments of 2018

Another year in music, and one that marked memorabilia for EDM lovers. Here are some key take-aways from this year. 


Avicii's Death: 

This year, we lost a legend. So young and in his youth, Avicii passes on 4/20 of this year at the age of 28 from an apparent suicide. Tim had struggled with acute pancreatitis, depression, and anxiety. This was a huge loss for the Dance world. 

Close friend David Guetta wrote, "Something really horrible happened, We lost a friend with such a beautiful heart and the world lost an incredibly talented musician. Thank you for your beautiful melodies, the time we shared in the studio, playing together as djs or just enjoying life as friends."


Swedish House Mafia Reunion:

Swedish House Mafia runites after a five year hiatus. They are now back together, making music, and touring. 


Jeffrey Sutorius kicked out of Dash Berlin:

After saying there was health issues/cancelling tour dates, Sutorius also Tweeted Dash Berlin's "mismanagement" from the other members. His management also registered under his name, so Jeffrey Sutorius will now go by his own name. 



Marshmello And His Manager Moe Shalizi featured on Forbes "30 Under 30":

It's all about how Marshmello Became a 44 Million Dollar DJ. Him and and his encased "rigid 13.5 pound helmet shaped like a marshmallow". 


Ultra Music Rellocates: 

After receiving notice from the city of Miami, Ultra's old home was forced to rellocate. 

"Event organizers of Ultra Music Festival are experienced and responsible promoters, which intends to fulfill its commitment to produce a safe and enjoyable event.

Because of the cultural and historic significance of Historic Virginia Key Beach Park and given the unique environmental considerations associated with the park, event organizers, from the inception, always intended to take extraordinarily great care in its production and remediation approaches. Event organizers always agreed that staging an event at Virginia Key meant becoming the entrusted stewards of the environmental and historic elements of Historic Virginia Key Beach Park and Ultra takes that potential responsibility very seriously," Ultra wrote on Facebook in regards to the long-lasting change. 


Hardwell Announced Indefinite Tour Hiatus 

Hardwell calls it quits when it comes to touring this year after a stage announcement, and a Facebook post that he expresses, "“I have decided to clear my schedule indefinitely to be completely liberated from targets, interviews, deadlines, release dates, etc.”


New implements to Soundcloud 2019 Partnerships:

Big changes in Soundcloud this year, and SoundCloud Selected Pandora as their Ad Sales Partner in the United States. Combined, the two reach over 100 million. This makes it the largests audio advertising marketplace in the US. They also partnered with Dubset to test and develop next generation approaches to clearing mixes.
